The Burg, SC – The Spartanburgers ended their winning strike last week by notching a road victory against the Owls at McNair Field. With the pressure for a win off their buns, the Beef Boyz of Summer can’t let off any heat as they aim to climb back up the Coastal Plain League West Division Standings. Duncan Park will undoubtedly earn the moniker “Historic” as it will play host to a Spartanburgers’ tribute to the past. Friday and Saturday Nights will both be Sluggers Appreciation Nights, as the Spartanburgers look to honor past teams, raise money for the local African American Community, and inform fans of the great history of this ballpark. Funds raised throughout the weekend will be donated towards the Spartanburg Youth Sports Bureau; this organization is dedicated to focusing the energy of at-risk youth towards positive avenues through participation in youth sports and developing life skills through their offered apprenticeship programs.

This will be night one of two of our Sluggers Appreciation Weekend. The team will be wearing specialty Sluggers Jerseys to honor the Negro League Textile Team that played in this great park so many years ago. The purpose of this weekend is to pay respect to the trailblazers of the past. The first 200 fans will walk away with posters celebrating Negro League Baseball and the Sluggers. Throughout the weekend, the Spartanburgers will be raising funds to benefit the local African American Community by supporting the Spartanburg Youth Sports Bureau. The price for General Admission tickets will now be $7.00 if purchased in advance (before 5:00 pm the day of the game), and $2.00 of each advance tickets purchased will be donated to the Spartanburg Youth Sports Bureau. It will be another great night of Spartanburgers Baseball combined with an excellent way to give back to the local community.

Night two of Sluggers Appreciation Weekend will allow fans to purchase a piece of history, as the team will be auctioning off the commemorative Sluggers Jerseys that they will be wearing. All jerseys will be auctioned off via a silent auction at the game. The price for General Admission tickets will also be $7.00 if purchased in advance (before 5:00 pm the day of the game). The proceeds from the auction, and $2.00 of each advance tickets purchased, will be donated to the Spartanburg Youth Sports Bureau. So come and enjoy another night of entertainment, baseball, and help the team give back to the community we all love.

Sunday, July 18th, Gates: 4:00 pm, Game: 5:05 pm vs. Spartanburgers (Home, Exhibition)
Yes, you read that right. The Spartanburgers will face one of their most formidable opponents this season…the Spartanburgers. The League Squad will take on their Exhibition counterparts in this intra-squad match. In addition to a fun game, it will be Kids Take Over the Park Night. Our young fans will be assisting us with all manner of duties from on-field hosting, public address announcing, to music. Sundays include the Beef Boyz wearing the fan-favorite teal jerseys, kids running the bases after the game, and kids 12 & under eating their first meal on us. General Admission tickets will be buy one get one for free, as long as they are purchased before 3:00 pm on game day. This is one of the best opportunities this year to embody “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, by catching a game at Historic Duncan Park.
