The Macon Bacon-Spartanburgers game scheduled for today, Monday, June 7th, at Duncan Park has been postponed. The forecast calls for periods of rain throughout the day in the Spartanburg area, in conjunction with poor field conditions.

The game is rescheduled for Sunday June 20th, which will then become a seven inning, double header starting at 5:05 pm against the Macon Bacon. Tickets already purchased for tonight’s game will be eligible to be transferred to another night of the customer’s choosing, and no refunds will be given. The Spartanburgers are looking forward to having everyone back to Duncan Park later this week on, Thursday, June 10th, at 7:05 pm, for another Thirsty Thursday. The Spartanburgers will be taking on the Savannah Bananas, as two of the top food teams in the league square off to establish delicious dominance.

Celebrating its 25th season in 2021, the CPL features 15 franchises playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To date, the CPL has had over 1,650 alumni drafted and 142 alums make their Major League debut – including 2017 ALCS MVP, 2017 World Series champion, 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander, as well as 2020 NL Rookie of the Year finalist Alec Bohm. The regular season for the Coastal Plain League starts on Thursday, May 27 and runs through July 31.

The league will have a two-division structure in 2021. The East will include the Florence RedWolves, Holly Springs Salamanders, Morehead City Marlins, Peninsula Pilots, Tri-City Chili Peppers, Wilmington Sharks and Wilson Tobs. In the West, it will be the Asheboro Copperheads, Forest City Owls, High Point-Thomasville HiToms, Lexington County Blowfish, Macon Bacon, Martinsville Mustangs, Savannah Bananas and the league’s newest franchise in Spartanburg, S.C. – the Spartanburgers.
